Tree for All Initiatives for a Climate Resilient and Healthy Watershed
The bold new vision of Tree for All partners is founded on 20 years of conservation-scale restoration throughout the watershed. During that time, land and water stewardship partners collaborated to plant more than 17 million trees and restore 150 miles of streams in the Tualatin River Watershed.
Through a series of iterative workshops guided by a Planning Committee, partners worked together to create a new plan. In setting goals for a more resilient watershed, studies, ongoing work and lessons learned were evaluated and incorporated into shared metrics.
Over the next 15 years Tree for All Partners will focus on protecting and restoring core habitats and building a healthy tree canopy to build nature-based solutions for a healthy watershed that thrives in the face of climate change.
Healthy Canopy Initiative
By first defining the characteristics of a healthy tree canopy and next finding mechanisms to fund and steward the canopy's development and maintenance, Tree for All partners will foster the creation of a more equitable, climate-resilient landscape across the Tualatin River Watershed's urban and natural areas. By 2040, Tree for All partners will plant and steward 150,000 trees in neighborhoods throughout the watershed with Healthy Canopy Initiative projects.
Connected Habitats Initiative
Through inclusive, collaborative mapping and engagement, Tree for All partners will prioritize and implement projects to conserve, restore and steward habitat connectivity, addressing barriers for wildlife and people and enhancing climate resiliency of the Tualatin River Watershed. By 2040, Tree for All partners will restore and protect 15,000 acres of land throughout the watershed with Connected Habitats Initiative projects.
