Miles of Trails, Thousands of Trees

A committed Tree for All partner, the City of Tigard supports tree planting on both public and private property to maximize the environmental and aesthetic benefits native plants provide. Staff and volunteers plant trees within its parks, floodplains and riparian areas, and on other public lands. In partnership with Friends of Trees, Tigard hosts community tree planting events throughout the year.

2019 marked the eighteenth consecutive year that the Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Tigard as a Tree City USA.

Tigard maintains many miles of trails for public use, including the Fanno Creek Trail and the Tualatin River Greenway Trail, and stands committed to providing access to its many green spaces. In fact, Tigard’s goal is to be the most walkable city in Oregon.

A keystone partner in the Fanno Creek Tree for All projects—including Ash to Main and Denney to Hall—the city has been working with Clean Water Services to re-meander Fanno Creek, restoring its ecological functions and creating a healthier and more naturally flowing stream.
